Coffee and Book

What is the cup for you, half-empty or half-full?

If you said half-empty, you tend to see life with jade-tinted glasses—when the moon comes up, you see only a pitch-black sky. The moon is a worn-out glow stick, projecting only a faint light from a distance. You don’t try to find that bigger, brighter light ahead. Well, why would you? It’s false anyway.

On the other hand, if you said half-full, you tend to see life through rose-tinted glasses or you’re holding onto your last bits of hope. Whichever one it is, when the night comes, you look at the bright moon and a smile slowly glimmers in the night sky, eclipsing any remaining sadness. Instead of only focusing on the darkness ahead, you find the stars. Each one a sign of a future waiting for you.

But, no matter what you choose, aren’t we all halfway? We’ll all face highs and lows, but we can always remember that life is only full of negativity if we let it. The cup won’t be halfway forever because we can fill each other up. We know that through God’s love, our cup can always be filled as God equips us with the giving spirit. As we start 2026, always try to fill someone else’s cup, whether it be just a smile or a “hi”, everything can leave its drop. So, don’t look at life as I’m always halfway, but rather, look at life as I’m always ever closer to full.

So, whether you count how many bedazzling stars there are in the night sky or you draw your curtains because it’s too bright, remember this: You’re loved and there is hope out there. You may not see it immediately, but if you seek it, it will find its way to you.

Sincerely,

Kyra
